FP&A & financial systems
Most finance problems are process problems wearing a spreadsheet.
Closing late, reporting nobody trusts, a month-end that only one person knows how to run. We map what is actually happening, find the constraint, and rebuild it as something that runs on its own systems.
Work that has already been done
These are from Brent's own engagements, not case studies borrowed from somewhere else.
30 → 7 days
Payables cycle re-engineered end to end at a large Florida nonprofit, bringing invoice processing inside state-mandated SLAs.
$2B in invoices
Governed by a tracking system built to give leadership visibility into every step of the payment lifecycle.
70% faster response
Service management rebuilt using Agile methods, cutting response times and raising internal satisfaction.
How an engagement runs
-
Diagnostic first
We do not quote a build before we know what is broken. The diagnostic is a fixed fee and produces a report you keep regardless of what you do next.
-
Scope from findings
The project is quoted against what the diagnostic actually found — real constraints, real effort — not an estimate made before anyone looked.
-
Build, document, hand over
You get the dashboards, the automation, and the documentation. The goal is a finance function that runs on its systems, not on one person remembering how it works.
What it costs
The diagnostic is a fixed fee so you can find out what is wrong without committing to a project first. Everything after that is scoped against what it found.
Financial process diagnostic
$2,500 fixed fee
Before anyone proposes a fix, find out what is actually slowing the process down.
- Task-level review of how the work is really performed, not how the SOP says it is
- End-to-end process map of the workflow in question
- Identification of the actual constraints — system locks, cutoff times, handoffs, rework loops
- Prioritized recommendations, with effort and impact for each
- A written report you own, whether or not you hire us to build anything
What changes the price: Scope is one process area. Additional areas are quoted separately.
Build and automate
from $7,500 project
Implement the fix — reporting, automation, or a rebuilt close.
- Executive dashboards in Power BI or Tableau, built on your real data
- Workflow automation across the systems you already run
- Month-end close rebuilt and documented so it does not depend on one person
- Data cleanup and reconciliation between systems of record
- SOPs and process documentation handed over at the end
What changes the price: Number of systems involved, data quality at the start, and how much of the work is integration versus reporting. Quoted after a diagnostic, not before.
Fractional FP&A
from $3,500 /month
Ongoing financial planning and analysis without hiring for the seat.
- Monthly reporting package and variance analysis
- Rolling forecast and scenario modeling
- Budget build and ongoing maintenance
- Board- or lender-ready materials
- Standing time each month, not ad-hoc requests
What changes the price: Hours per month and complexity. Most engagements settle between 10 and 40 hours monthly.
Software you end up needing is yours, not ours. If a rebuild calls for a reporting tool, a connector, or a license, you buy it in your own name at your own price. We do not resell software or take a margin on it, and we tell you what it will cost before you commit.
Start with a diagnostic
Tell us which process is causing the most pain — the close, payables, reporting, a system nobody trusts — and we will tell you whether a diagnostic is the right next step or whether you need something else entirely.
